Portswood Prayer Team
Portswood
Prayer
Team
Portswood Prayer Team is a joint venture of churches in Portswood/Highfield. Two Saturday afternoons a month, a handful of people meet at Portswood Church to pray for the locality.
About half the team stay and pray while the others go in pairs visiting shops, eating places etc, offering to pray for those who work there and their businesses. This sometimes leads to conversations about spirituality, faith and God.
We do this because we believe God loves and desires to bless people. We desire to see transformation in the community and, ultimately, we want to see people coming to know and trust Jesus for eternal life. We've been encouraged by the response – it seems this is a door God has opened for us at this time. We've had at least one business owner acknowledge that since we've been praying, they've been getting more business!
We also hand out tracts and booklets such as 'Try Praying'. We've had conversations with people from all kinds of religious and non-religious backgrounds. Some are getting to know our faces as we revisit them and some have opened up to us as rapport and trust have grown.
We'd encourage you to talk to us if you'd like to get involved with the Portswood Prayer Team.
